Skeptical Inquirer does these wonderful little classic articles that they put online. Many of them are from the old days of CSICOP, whose name; “Committee for the Scientific Investigation of Claims of the Paranormal” I always liked better than the “Committee for Skeptical Inquiry,” even if the latter does allow you a little more leeway in your topics of choice.
Anyway. They’ve put up one of their classic articles on why bogus therapies seem to work. It’s a wonderful work that leaves a nice, tingly taste on the tongue afterwards. I hope they didn’t publish it in England, given what’s happened with Simon Singh.
Or maybe the tingly sensation is because I’m drinking Scotch.
